Hongqiao Community is in the vicinity of the Hongqiao Airport (mainly for domestic flights). It is the oldest and most established expatriate community since China opened to the world. The main roads, Hongqiao Rd. and Hongmei Rd, lined with rows of luxury villas and green leaves and plants, forming a pleasant vision of wealthier Blends of culture, convenient shopping ( Carrefour and Hongqiao Friendship Store) and family-friendly environment have been appealing to expatriates from dozens of countries. Gubei Community is geographically part of Hongqiao Community. It witnessed the rise of some of the oldest luxury apartments in Shanghai in the early days of its development. Now the second phase of Gubei developments are being built, promising more luxury apartments and compounds. Shopping is also convenient with Carrefour around. Majority of the population are westerners and Japanese.
